China Southern Airlines is going to inaugurate a direct flight from Beijing Daxing International Airport to Dhaka, marking the first connection between the capitals of the two nations on July 15 to cater to growing travel demand.
Initially, the airline will operate two weekly flights on this route, scheduled for Mondays and Saturdays, with plans to increase frequency to daily flights in the near future.
The launch ceremony for the Dhaka-Beijing flight took place on Monday night at a city hotel in Dhaka, hosted by China Southern Airlines.
Civil Aviation and Tourism Minister Muhammad Faruk Khan and Chinese Ambassador to Bangladesh Yao Wen were among the guests of honor at the event.
Minister Muhammad Faruk Khan highlighted China’s longstanding friendship with Bangladesh and acknowledged China’s significant role in projects like the Padma Bridge, expressing optimism about future Chinese investments in Bangladesh.
Ambassador Yao Wen congratulated China Southern Airlines on the inauguration of the direct flight, emphasizing its potential to enhance collaboration, people-to-people connectivity, and mutually beneficial cooperation between the two countries.
FBCCI President Mahbubul Alam underscored the importance of connectivity in facilitating economic activities.
Xie Kangjia, General Manager of China Southern Airlines, emphasized the airline’s leading position in the aviation industry, boasting a robust network and commitment to excellence.
He highlighted the airline’s extensive operations, connecting passengers to over 200 destinations globally, including Dhaka.
The ceremony was attended by other distinguished guests, including Air Vice Marshal M Mafidur Rahman, Chairman of the Civil Aviation Authority of Bangladesh; Lokman Hossain Miah, Executive Chairman of BIDA; representatives from Bangladesh Bank, SCB, and prominent travel agencies.
