Two panels of the country’s apparel exporters — Sammilita Parishad and Forum — submitted their nomination papers on Saturday for the forthcoming elections of the Bangladesh Garment Manufacturers and Exporters Association (BGMEA).
According to a statement, the BGMEA elections for the 2025–2027 term are scheduled to be held on 31 May.
On Saturday, BGMEA Administrator Md Anwar Hossain welcomed the leaders and candidates from both panels during the official submission of the nominations.
BGMEA statement said that four candidates individually submitted their nomination papers on Thursday at the BGMEA office in Dhaka.
Mahmud Hasan Khan Babu, Panel Leader and Managing Director of Rising Fashions, submitted the nomination papers on behalf of Forum.
He was accompanied by former BGMEA Presidents Anisur Rahman Sinha and Anwar-Ul-Alam Chowdhury Parvez, Forum President MA Salam, and Chief Election Coordinator Faisal Samad.
Later, Faruque Hassan, Chief Election Coordinator and former BGMEA President, submitted the nomination papers on behalf of Sammilita Parishad.
Former BGMEA President Kazi Moniruzzaman, along with leaders of Sammilita Parishad including its Panel Leader and Managing Director of Chaiti Group, Abul Kalam, were also present during the submission.
The primary list of candidates for the election was also published on Saturday, the statement added.
