Gold prices in Bangladesh fluctuate 62 times in 2024

The price of gold in Bangladesh experienced 62 fluctuations throughout 2024, with 35 increases and 27 decreases, according to Bangladesh Jewellers Association.

The highest price reached was Tk 12,305 on 31 October, and the lowest was Tk 9,490 on 19 January, reflecting market dynamics shaped by geopolitical events, currency exchange rates, and supply-demand shifts.

Data showed that the year began with a rise in the price of 22-carat gold on January 18, reaching Tk 9,640 per gram,

However, this increase was short-lived, as the price dropped to Tk 9,490 the very next day, on January 19.

Gold prices showed some volatility during the first quarter of the year, rising again on March 7, to Tk 9,680, before falling to Tk 9,530 on March 20.

On March 22, the price saw another increase, reaching Tk 9,780, continuing its upward trend in early April, rising to Tk 9,930 by April 7.

Another hike on April 8 pushed the price further to Tk 10,080, followed by another increase to Tk 10,257 on April 18.

The price then dropped slightly to Tk 10,185 on April 20, before experiencing a rise again on April 21, reaching Tk 10,239 a gram.

A subsequent decrease on April 23 brought it down to Tk 9,970 a gram, but another series of price increases followed, with gold peaking again at Tk 9,780 a gram by August 28.

Throughout the year, the pattern of ups and downs continued, with prices fluctuating between rises and falls in May, June, and July.

The most notable rise occurred on May 24, where the price hit Tk 10,249 a gram before experiencing a decline in late May.

As the year continued, the price reached its peak in September, hitting TK 11,892 a gram on September 26.

This peak was followed by a decline at the end of the month, with the price dropping back to Tk 11,784 a gram.

By October, gold prices began to recover, climbing to Tk 12,305 per gram by the month’s end.

November brought renewed volatility, with prices peaking at Tk 12,197 per gram on November 24 before dipping to Tk 12,035 by month’s close.

In December, minor fluctuations persisted, with a brief rise to Tk 12,865 per gram on December 10, ultimately closing the year at Tk 11,856 per gram on December 30.
