Bangladesh leads with 248 LEED-certified factories, including Evitex Apparels

Bangladesh’s readymade garment (RMG) sector continues to lead the global shift toward sustainable manufacturing, with Evitex Apparels Limited, a concern of Evince Group, recently securing LEED Gold certification under the US Green Building Council’s LEED v4 system.

This achievement further strengthens Bangladesh’s position as the world’s top host of green garment factories, now boasting 248 LEED-certified facilities, including 105 Platinum-rated and 129 Gold-rated units.

The country is home to 9 of the world’s top 10 highest-rated LEED-certified factories and 68 of the top 100, underlining its growing reputation for sustainable industrial practices.

Evince Group, a prominent player in the RMG industry, has reaffirmed its commitment to environmental responsibility.

In a statement, the company emphasised that sustainability is central to its operations and that it aims to set a benchmark for the industry.

Shah Rayeed Chowdhury, Director of Evince Group and also a Director of the Bangladesh Garment Manufacturers and Exporters Association (BGMEA), said that BGMEA had developed a Sustainability Vision 2030, aligning its key performance indicators with the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).

He expressed confidence that, through active efforts, the industry could become greener and more productive, adding that Evince aimed to be one of the pioneers in leading this sustainability-focused transformation.

Echoing this vision, Shah Adeeb Chowdhury, Director of Evince Group, saidd, wWe already have Platinum certification under LEED v4.1 for Evitex Dress Shirt Ltd, and now we’ve achieved Gold certification for Evitex Apparels Ltd. Our goal is to secure LEED certification across all our facilities.’

He also reaffirmed Evince Group’s ambition to work closely with BGMEA in aligning with SDG targets and promoting ethical sourcing practices across the supply chain.
