Professor Shibli Rubayat-Ul Islam is set to be reappointed as chairman of the Bangladesh Securities and Exchange Commission (BSEC) for another four-year term.
Shibli was appointed as the chairman of the BSEC in 2020 and his current tenure is scheduled to end in May this year.
The finance ministry’s recommendation for the reappointment has already got the consent of Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina last week and a circular would be issued soon, according to ministry sources.
Shibli was a professor of Banking and Insurance and the Dean of the Faculty of Business Studies at the University of Dhaka.
He was also the chairman of Sadharan Bima Corporation, the state-owned non-life insurer and reinsurer.
