Mahmud Hasan Khan Babu, managing director of Rising Group, has been elected president of the Bangladesh Garment Manufacturers and Exporters Association (BGMEA) for the 2025-27 term.

The BGMEA election board announced on June 14 that the president and seven vice-presidents were elected unopposed, as the number of nominations received matched the available positions.

The office bearers were to be elected by 35 BGMEA directors, themselves elected through direct voting on May 31.

The announced office bearers for the 2025-27 tenure includeed Salim Rahman as 1st vice-president, Inamul Haq Khan as senior vice-president, and Md Rezwan Selim, Mijanur Rahman, Vidiya Amrit Khan, Md Sehab Udduza Chowdhury and Mohammad Rafique Chowdhury as vice-presidents.

The 35 directors, including the eight office bearers, will take charge on June 16.

In the May 31 election, the Forum panel led by Mahmud Hasan Khan Babu secured 31 out of 35 director posts, decisively winning the BGMEA biennial elections.
