The Asian Development Bank (ADB) has appointed Hoe Yun Jeong as its new Country Director for Bangladesh.
In this role, Jeong will oversee ADB’s operations in Bangladesh and engage in policy dialogue with the interim government, development partners, and other stakeholders.
Jeong will also spearhead the development of ADB’s upcoming country partnership strategy for Bangladesh, with the current strategy set to conclude in 2025.
With 25 years of professional experience, including 15 years at ADB, Jeong brings extensive expertise to the role.
He joined ADB in 2009 as an economist and has since worked in regional cooperation and operations.
In 2018, he was appointed to ADB’s India Resident Mission, where he served in senior positions, including as Deputy Country Director.
Jeong played a key role in strengthening relationships with development partners, reducing financing costs, enhancing knowledge operations, and supporting India’s G20 Presidency.
Jeong is a citizen of the Republic of Korea. He holds a Master’s degree in Business Administration from the University of Washington, USA, and a Bachelor’s degree in Economics from Seoul National University, Korea.
