The price of gold in Bangladesh has surged once again, reaching an all-time high.
The Bangladesh Jewellers’ Association has announced a Tk 2,099 increase per bhori (11.664 grams) of 22-carat gold, setting the new price at Tk 1,44,890.
The new rate will take effect from Sunday, marking the highest gold price in the country’s history, according to the Bangladesh Jewelers’ Association (BAJUS).
Gold prices were previously raised on January 16, 23, and 30. Now, after just a three-day gap, the price has been increased again.
The BAJUS Standing Committee on Pricing and Price Monitoring made the decision in a meeting on Saturday, as confirmed in a notification signed by committee chairman Masudur Rahman.
With this latest hike, the price of one bhori (11.664 grams) of 22-carat gold has risen by Tk 2,099 to Tk 1,44,890—the highest in the country’s history.
The previous record was Tk 1,43,526 per bhori, which was in effect from October 31 to November 4, 2024. The price of a 21-carat gold bar has been increased by Tk 1,994 a bhori to Tk 1,38,300 taka.
In addition, the price of a 18-carat gold bar has been increased by Tk 1,714 to Tk 1,18,541 a bhori and the price of a traditional gold bar has been increased by Tk 1,458 taka to Tk 97,476 a bhori.
Earlier on January 30, the price of a 22-carat gold bar was increased by Tk 1,365 to Tk 1,42,791 a bhori. The price of a 21-carat gold bar has been increased by Tk 1,307 a bhori to Tk 1,36,306 a bhori.
In addition, the price of a 18-carat gold bar has been increased by Tk 1,108 a bhori to Tk 1,16,827 a bhori and the price of one bhori of traditional gold has been increased by Tk 956 to Tk 96,018.
While the price of gold has been adjusted upward, silver prices remain unchanged. A bhori of 22-carat silver is priced at Tk 2,578, 21-carat silver at Tk 2,449, 18-carat silver at Tk 2,111, and traditional silver at Tk 1,586.
