FBCCI demands implementation of NSW to alleviate business suffering

The Federation of Bangladesh Chambers of Commerce and Industry president Mahbubul Alam on Monday demanded the implementation of the National Single Window to streamline import-export processes and expedite trade.

He made this demand during a workshop on the Bangladesh National Single Window held at FBCCI’s Motijheel office in Dhaka.

Mahbub expressed his optimism that the National Board of Revenue (NBR) would collaborate with all stakeholders to achieve implementation of National Single Window within the current year.

He also said that the implementation of the National Single Window would not only increase government revenue but also alleviate the suffering of the businessmen.

FBCCI mentioned that the implementation of NSW would reduce business costs and improve the investment climate.

This system would consolidate trade-related information onto a single platform, allowing traders to obtain all necessary licenses efficiently from one source, he said.

During the workshop, the organizers announced that the trade portal and trade registration module of the National Single Window have already been completed.

The registration process for C&F agents will become effective within the next two weeks.

NSW project director ABM Shafiqur Rahman said that 19 agencies would initially be integrated into the system to provide various licensing services.

Meanwhile, the development of the NSW portal has been completed, with plans for its launch scheduled for December this year.

FBCCI senior vice-president Md Amin Helali said that the implementation of the National Single Window would significantly enhance business, trade, and the overall economy by reducing business expenses and increasing government revenue.

Directors of FBCCI, business leaders, and government officials, among others, were present at the workshop.
