FBCCI calls for joint research collaboration with CCOIC

The Federation of Bangladesh Chambers of Commerce and Industry (FBCCI) called upon the China Chamber of International Commerce (CCOIC) to collaborate on joint research initiatives aimed at exploring opportunities in Bangladesh’s information and communication technology (ICT), textiles, garments, and light engineering sectors.

FBCCI President Md Mahbubul Alam, speaking at a meeting with leaders of the China Council for the Promotion of International Trade (CCPIT) and CCOIC at the China World Summit Wing, Shangri-La Circle, emphasized the desire of Bangladeshi businesses for enhanced cooperation with their Chinese counterparts, according to a press release.

Mahbub extended invitations to Chinese business leaders to invest in Bangladesh, highlighting the country’s favorable investment climate and incentives for foreign investors.

He underscored Bangladesh’s robust infrastructure, strategic location, and supportive business policies, reaffirming FBCCI’s commitment to provide full assistance.

Pointing out promising sectors like ICT, garments, textiles, and light engineering, Mahbub sought support for technology transfer and joint research initiatives.

He invited Chinese investors to explore opportunities firsthand by visiting Bangladesh.

Highlighting Bangladesh’s advantages such as special economic zones, tax exemptions, and a skilled workforce, he positioned Bangladesh as an attractive destination for Chinese businesses seeking to expand globally.

During the meeting, CCPIT Secretary General Sun Xiao acknowledged Bangladesh’s recent infrastructural developments and emphasized CCPIT’s efforts in establishing a global corridor to facilitate smoother trade and investment flows between the two countries, underscoring mutual economic benefits.

Business leaders from FBCCI, CCPIT, and CCOIC expressed their commitment to deeper economic collaboration, envisioning mutual growth and prosperity for both Bangladesh and China.

Present at the meeting were FBCCI Vice-Presidents Khairul Huda Chopol and Shomi Kaiser, Dhaka Chamber of Commerce and Industry President Ashraf Ahmed, Metropolitan Chamber of Commerce and Industry, Dhaka President Kamran T Rahman, CCOIC Director General Xu Jinli, and CCPIT Director Zhu Yingmin, among others.
