Fahmida Khatun, Executive Director of the Centre for Policy Dialogue, has been appointed as a director on the Bangladesh Bank board by the Ministry of Finance.
Deputy Secretary of the Ministry of Finance Afsan Bilkis on September 19 issued an office order confirming that Fahmida’s appointment would be effective for three years from her joining the central bank’s board.
Fahmida serves as a non-resident senior fellow at the Atlantic Council, a think tank based in the United States.
She completed her postdoctoral research at Columbia University, collaborating with Professor Jeffrey Sachs, and holds a master’s degree and PhD in Economics from University College London (UCL).
In addition, she has participated in the leadership decision-making programme at Harvard University.
Fahmida is actively involved in various policy-making and advisory bodies, both domestically and internationally.
She serves on the high-level advisory board for the Productive Capacities Index of UNCTAD and is a board member of BRAC, a prominent non-governmental organisation.
