Eight killed in Dhaka-Ctg highway crash

At least eight people were killed and four others injured in a head-on collision between a passenger bus and a microbus on the Dhaka-Chattogram highway in Lohagara upazila of Chattogram on Wednesday morning.

Police have not yet identified the deceased. However, according to sources from the Lohagara Fire Service, the victims included three women and a seven-year-old girl.

The four injured individuals have been rescued and taken to hospital for treatment.

The accident occurred around 7:00 am in the Jangalia area of the Chunti highway section when a Relax Paribahan bus collided with a Cox’s Bazar-bound microbus, local police said.

Upon receiving the information, firefighters rushed to the scene, recovered the bodies, and transported them to the Lohagara Upazila Health Complex.

The bus driver fled the scene following the accident, while police have seized the vehicle.

Series of accidents in the same area

This incident followed two other road accidents in the Chunati Jangalia area of Lohagara earlier this week.

On Monday, five youths lost their lives in a head-on collision between a passenger bus and a minibus at around 7:15 am, leaving nine others injured.

In a separate incident on Tuesday at around 4:00 am, two tourist microbuses overturned, resulting in injuries to nine passengers.

Police said that the accidents might have been caused by dangerous bends in the road.
