Eid-ul-Fitr being celebrated across Bangladesh

Eid-ul-Fitr, one of the largest religious festivals for Muslims, is being celebrated across Bangladesh with solemnity, fervor, and joy, marking the conclusion of Ramadan, the month of fasting and reflection.

Muslim devotees from all walks of life attended Eid prayers at mosques, Eidgahs, and temporary prayer spaces in Dhaka and throughout the country.

The main Eid-ul-Fitr congregation of Bangladesh took place at the National Eidgah on the premises of the High Court in the capital on Thursday morning.

President Mohammed Shahabuddin joined hundreds of people from diverse backgrounds at the National Eidgah to observe Eid-ul-Fitr prayers.

Notable figures such as the Chief Justice of Bangladesh, cabinet members, Supreme Court judges, lawmakers, senior political leaders, diplomats, and high-ranking civil and military officials also participated in the main Eid congregation held at 8:30 am.

The Eid prayers were led by Khatib Hafez Maulana Mufti Ruhul Amin from the Baitul Mukarram National Mosque. Additionally, five congregational prayers were conducted at the Baitul Mukarram National Mosque at 7:00 am, 8:00 am, 9:00 am, 10:00 am, and 10:45 am.

Following the Eid prayers, devotees greeted each other joyfully. Traditionally, the primary Eid-ul-Fitr congregation in Bagerhat was held at the UNESCO-declared world heritage site, Shat Gombuj Mosque, with two congregations held at 8:00 am and 8:30 am respectively.

President Mohammed Shahabuddin and Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina issued separate messages extending greetings to the nation and the global Muslim community on the occasion of Eid-ul-Fitr.

The General Secretary of the ruling Awami League conveyed his party’s Eid greetings to the nation through a video message.

Similarly, the Secretary General of the main opposition Bangladesh Nationalist Party extended Eid greetings to the people of Bangladesh and the Muslim community worldwide in a statement.

Various television channels and radio stations are broadcasting special programs to celebrate Eid-ul-Fitr.
