A delegation of business leaders from China, representing prominent garment and textile companies, on Tuesday visited the Bangladesh Garment Manufacturers and Exporters Association (BGMEA).
Leading the BGMEA was its president, SM Mannan (Kochi), while the Chinese delegation was headed by Xu Jinshan, president of Fujian Qunfeng Machinery Co., Ltd.
During the meeting, Xu Jinshan, Chen Qi Ping, and Yang Ming Ming from the Chinese delegation addressed the attendees.
The discussions primarily focused on exploring trade and investment opportunities between Bangladesh and China, particularly in enhancing cooperation within the textile and apparel industries.
Both sides underscored the potential for expanding business ventures, highlighting Bangladesh’s expertise in producing high-value, man-made fiber-based garments and its ongoing efforts to upgrade technological infrastructure.
The BGMEA leaders emphasized Bangladesh’s increasing focus on high-value product manufacturing and the enhancement of technology and machinery capabilities.
Furthermore, they highlighted the prospects for Chinese investment in Bangladesh’s high-end textile industry and backward linkage sectors, emphasizing mutual benefits.
Both parties expressed optimism about collaborative efforts to increase Bangladesh’s garment production capacity through knowledge exchange and technical skill enhancement.
BGMEA Vice-President Md Nasir Uddin, along with directors Rajiv Chowdhury and Md Jakir Hossain, among others, were present at the meeting.
