A high-level delegation representing leading Chinese apparel and textile enterprises visited the Bangladesh Garment Manufacturers and Exporters Association (BGMEA) on May 13.
The meeting, convened at the BGMEA Complex in Dhaka, aimed to explore avenues for enhancing bilateral trade and investment between Bangladesh and China.
During the meeting, both parties exchanged insights, discussed industry trends, and explored potential areas of collaboration to mutually benefit.
Topics included potential joint ventures, investment opportunities, and strategic partnerships intended to boost competitiveness and foster sustainable growth in the apparel and textile sector.
The delegation expressed a strong interest in fostering partnerships with Bangladeshi counterparts to leverage mutual strengths and drive innovation and sustainability within the apparel industry.
BGMEA leaders provided insights into Bangladesh’s garment industry landscape, highlighting the nation’s robust infrastructure, skilled workforce, and favorable business environment.
They underscored Bangladesh’s dedication to sustainable practices and ethical manufacturing, aligning with global standards and consumer expectations.
Additionally, BGMEA leaders pointed out the increasing demand for man-made fiber-based fabrics in Bangladesh’s garment industry.
They urged Chinese investors to consider opportunities in emerging sectors such as textile machinery, man-made fiber, technical textiles, and recycling.
Furthermore, both parties stressed the importance of exchanging best practices and technical knowledge to support the development of Bangladeshi garment factories.
The Chinese delegation was led by Xie Qing, executive vice-president of the China National Garment Association (CNGA).
On the BGMEA side, president S M Mannan Kochi led the delegation, accompanied by senior-vice president Khandoker Rafiqul Islam, vice-presidents Arshad Jamal Dipu, Md Nasir Uddin, and Abdullah Hil Rakib, along with directors Md Imranur Rahman and Md Nurul Islam.
