Dhaka, Beijing sign nine instruments to boost ties

Bangladesh and China signed nine instruments on Friday, including one agreement on economic and technical cooperation and eight Memorandums of Understanding (MoUs) covering a range of sectors, officials said.

The MoUs include cooperation in translation and production of classics, cultural heritage exchanges, news and media collaboration, as well as sports and health initiatives.

Additionally, five key announcements were made, including the launch of formal negotiations on investment, the commencement of the China Industrial Economic Zone, a commercial agreement for the modernisation and expansion of Mongla Port, the establishment of robot physiotherapy and rehabilitation centre, and China’s donation of a cardiac surgery vehicle.

Chief Adviser Professor Muhammad Yunus is currently undertaking a four-day visit in China, holding meetings with Chinese leaders and investors to boost mutual cooperation with the country.
