The Women Entrepreneurs Association of Bangladesh (WEAB) is set to host a three-day international trade fair for women entrepreneurs at Gulshan Shooting Club in the capital.
The event, aimed at promoting the skills, creativity, and economic empowerment of women entrepreneurs, will begin on March 6 and conclude on March 8, coinciding with International Women’s Day and honouring the role of women in the July uprising.
The fair will be open to all from 10:00am to 8:00pm daily and will showcase a wide range of handcrafted items, traditional clothing, intricately designed fabrics, artistic jewellery and various creative products made by women entrepreneurs.
Announcing the event at a press conference held on Monday at the WEAB headquarters, the organisation’s president, Nasreen Awal Mintoo, shared key details of the fair.
She highlighted that WEAB is marking its Silver Jubilee through this event.
Over the past 25 years, the organisation has provided training, mentorship, and financial support to thousands of women entrepreneurs across the country.
Nasreen Awal said that the fair would highlight the achievements and potential of women entrepreneurs both nationally and internationally.
A special attraction at this year’s event will be the ‘July Corner’, dedicated to the women who played a crucial role in the July uprising.
This section will commemorate their courage and contributions.
Additionally, to encourage the participation of women and children, the fair will host an art competition featuring 300 students from various schools across Dhaka.
Speaking at the press conference, Nasreen Awal said that the fair will play a crucial role in promoting women’s financial independence and their journey as entrepreneurs.
She said that beyond economic empowerment, such initiatives will further enhance women’s contributions to society.
