The price of 22-carat gold has reached a historic high of Tk 1,22,985 per bhori (11.664 grams) in Bangladesh.
This represents an increase of Tk 2,904 per bhori, according to a press release from the Bangladesh Jeweller’s Association (BAJUS) issued on Sunday.
The price adjustment is attributed to rising gold prices in the local market.
BAJUS announced that the new prices will take effect from Monday. Previously, the maximum price of gold was Tk 1,20,081 per bhori, effective since July 15 of this year.
On Sunday, the BAJUS Standing Committee on Pricing and Price Monitoring decided to further increase gold prices.
Under the new rates, the price of 21-carat gold has risen by Tk 2,776 to Tk 1,17,398 per bhori, 18-carat gold has increased by Tk 2,379 to Tk 1,00,625 per bhori, and the price of traditional gold has gone up by Tk 1,971 to Tk 83,199 per bhori.
While gold prices have surged, silver prices remain unchanged. The current silver prices are Tk 2,100 per bhori for 22-carat, Tk 2,006 per bhori for 21-carat, Tk 1,715 per bhori for 18-carat, and Tk 1,283 per bhori for traditional silver.
