Hop Lun launches #SHECAN initiative to support workers

Global apparel company Hop Lun has officially launched its new #SHECAN initiative across multiple factories in Bangladesh, aiming to benefit some 30,000 employees.

The initiative integrates health, development, and family support programmes under a unified and inclusive framework.

With approximately 80 per cent of Hop Lun’s Bangladeshi workforce comprising women, #SHECAN is designed to support both female and male employees by addressing universal health, safety, and personal development needs.

The initiative includes a range of services such as free medical camps and factory-based training programmes.

Several measures are already underway, including upgraded childcare centres with enhanced learning corners and caregiver resources, improvements to on-site clinics, provision of medical and essential supplies for women, and broad health literacy initiatives.

A key feature of #SHECAN is the ‘Worker Scholarship Pathway’, created to provide educational opportunities for employees.

In addition, the initiative will offer expanded life skills training in collaboration with external partners, accessible to all staff.

Commenting on the launch, Nishantha Mohottige, Bangladesh Country Head, said that the initiative aimed to provide employees with a workplace where they would feel at home and safe.

He added that, as always, the company was committed to building a workplace where every employee, regardless of role or gender, could work in health, prosperity, and confidence.
