Bangladesh Garment Manufacturers and Exporters Association (BGMEA) has announced plans to develop an AI-enabled ESG compliance framework, dubbed the ‘digital factory passport’, aimed at enhancing transparency, accountability, and global competitiveness across the country’s garment industry.
The initiative was unveiled during a strategic cooperation meeting between BGMEA and Digital Bridge Partners (DBP) on Sunday at the apparel body’s headquarters in Uttara, Dhaka.
According to a statement, the digital factory passport will serve as a unified tool to streamline factory-level data management and reporting, reduce audit fatigue, and improve efficiency in monitoring sustainability performance.
By offering a standardised, AI-driven approach, the system is expected to help factories meet international buyers’ requirements and strengthen Bangladesh’s position as a global sourcing hub.
Speaking at the meeting, BGMEA President Mahmud Hasan Khan stressed the importance of innovation and digital transformation in advancing the sector’s sustainability journey.
Senior Vice President Inamul Haq Khan, Vice President Vidiya Amrit Khan, and other BGMEA officials were present, alongside representatives from Digital Bridge Partners, who reaffirmed their commitment to supporting the industry in achieving greater efficiency and transparency through digital solutions.
