Bangladesh’s apparel exports to the United States in the first seven months of 2025 grew by 21.66 per cent.

According to the latest data released by the Office of Textiles and Apparel (OTEXA), this performance highlighted Bangladesh’s competitiveness in the global apparel supply chain, especially at a time when traditional suppliers like China experienced sharp declines.

The US imported apparel worth $4.98 billion from Bangladesh between January and July 2025, up from $4.09 billion in the same period of 2024.

In the month of July 2025 alone, Bangladesh exported $729.86 million worth of apparel to the US, a 4.97 per cent increase from the $695.28 million recorded in July 2024.

In comparison, other leading exporters to the US posted mixed results.

However, China – historically the largest apparel exporter to the US – saw a 21.01 per cent decline, with total apparel imports falling to $6.92 billion in the January–July 2025 period from $8.76 billion in 2024.

This represented a dramatic shift in the global sourcing map, with U.S. brands increasingly moving production away from China.

In July 2025, the total value of the US apparel imports stood at $7.64 billion, reflecting a decline of 3.04 per cen compared to $7.88 billion in July 2024.

For the first seven months of 2025, Vietnam recorded a robust 16.94 per cent growth, with total apparel exports to the US amounting to $9.45 billion.

India also recorded significant gains. US imports from India rose by 15.13 per cent in July 2025, reaching $465.43 million, while cumulative exports for the January–July 2025 period totaled $3.31 billion — a 16.10 per cent increase from the previous year.

Indonesia and Cambodia saw similar upward trends, with Cambodia showing the highest cumulative growth of 24.45 per cent, reaching $2.37 billion over the seven-month span.
